Sud tin plating

Technical possibilities at Metoba

Metoba offers the following techniques for processing Sud tin plating :

Bulk-finishing

1. Characteristics and properties

The deposited sud tin layers with layer thicknesses of 0.5-1µm protect non-ferrous metals against tarnishing and oxide formation even in contact with water. Geometrically complicated parts with recesses are coated completely and absolutely uniformly. The deposited layers improve the solderability.

2. Benefits and areas of application

Sud tin plating is used for decorative components, as tarnish protection for cooling coils (inside and outside) and workpieces with small bores, to improve the drawing properties of wires, electrical contacts, plug connections, battery pins and printed circuits. In addition, sud tin is needed to replace electroplated tin layers, as these would cause tin accumulations due to their very good lubricating properties with higher layer thicknesses and multiple plugs.

3. Basic material

Components made of copper and its alloys can be coated.

The degree of gloss of the surface is variable and reflects the surface structure of the base material.

4. Required delivery condition

The goods provided must be largely metallically bright. Residual oils or residual impurities must be removable with conventional aqueous alkaline degreasers. Oils containing silicone, alkali/alkaline earth and high-pressure additives must be avoided at all costs.

5. Pre-treatment

In order to create a high-quality surface by coating that meets the requirements placed on it, the workpieces must have a surface quality that permits error-free finishing.
